Meet the Pastor

Ken Simmons is the senior pastor of Harbor Baptist Church. He was born and raised in Southwestern Virginia in a small town called Elliston. After graduating from Virginia Tech, he moved to Northern Virginia to pursue his career.

Ken came to know the Lord on April 27, 1988, on a Thursday night when two soul winners from the Crossroads Baptist Church in Bailey’s Crossroads, Virginia, asked him the “age-old” question, “If you were to die today, would you go to heaven or do you have some doubt?” He followed the Lord in believer’s baptism and soon became involved in the ministries of the church. A year after salvation he surrendered to God’s call upon his life to preach.

He soon attended the Fairfax Baptist Temple Missions Academy, graduating with a degree in pastoral theology.

Pastor Ken has started two churches, the Victory Independent Baptist Church in Roanoke, Virginia, and the Crossroads Baptist Church in Oakland, California. He is an annual speaker at the COEBA National gathering at Crossroads Baptist Church and also has been privileged to preach at Lancaster Baptist Church, Lancaster, California; Temple Baptist Church, Powell, Tennessee; Heartland Baptist Bible College, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Valley Forge Baptist Temple in Lancaster, Pennsylvania; and Eastland Baptist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He has also preached at various mission conferences and retreats.

On November 16, 2014, the Lord led him to accept the role of senior pastor of our church.

Harbor Baptist Church is a missions-hearted ministry, supporting nearly 60 American missionaries, hundreds of national pastors and several missions’ projects – giving over $100,000 annually for world evangelization. Under his leadership, the church continues to grow and flourish.

Pastor Simmons and his wife Pat were married on March 5, 1994. They have two children, Jeremiah and Rachel.
